    Smile my 'unplanned' eurotrip...

    Hi guys,

I am bored................... Work (self employed and p/t student) is slow and rubbish so i have decided to do something!

My ex mrs finally gave me the £700 i'd been owed for a a few months so i've decided to drive to dover, in the Vectra CDTI of course, and catch a ferry over to the land of frogs. once there i plan on [haven't figured this bit out yet lol].

Anyway it's something to do. Any ideas of places to visit?

P.S i wonder if the Vectra will be reliable for the long mission (57 vectra CDTI 150)

Recently completed 2200 miles in 1 week in my 07 cdti 150 never missed a beat averaged 50 MPG . Did France , Belgium, Germany, Holland and Luxembourg. WEnt to Spa and Nurburgring to keep sons happy, WEnt to Bonn in Germany and Eindhoven Arnem and Nijmegen in Holland. Visited Luxembourg as no-one I asked had ever been there. Also Try Brussels. I took the Kids up the Atomium. And then watched Some Nutters Zip-Wire off it for 25 Euros a go. Looked a bit dodgy to me !

Make sure you meet all the required laws for the countries you are going too. Spare bulbs, yellow jacket, warning triangle etc. Check your insurance as well as you may only be covered 3rd party while abroad.

Ghent is a lovely city if you like that sort of thing (I do) and if you smoke, fags are cheap in Belgium, so I am told (don't smoke -but you if you like breaking the law you can flog them to friends. I would not however condone this).

I prefer Belgium to France - nice place, nice people and affordable decent restuarants

If the weather is good start in Cap Blanc Nez/Cap Gris nez (near Calais); next stop Veurne or Ypres; follow E40 to Ghent (always lots to do, book a hotel in the center); the city of Brussels (Grand Place, Cinquantennaire, Autoworld, musea...) and a trip to the Atomium is always nice
    Next Namur, Dinant and/or Ardennes....
or go from Brussels to Leuven (student city) and then Hasselt (very nice small city), Maastricht (Holland), Aachen/Aken (Germany)
