    Ok,

I know this has probably been covered many times before, but just wondered what recommendations there were for the above car. Its preface lift so i understand it doesnt have the problems of the post facelift engines when it comes to tuning.

What have others had done, what bhp\torque can i expect and something no one ever seems to quote with tuning boxes etc but what 0-60 times and 30 to 50\70 times are people getting after tuning?

Thank you in advance for all your help and advice

i've got the same year car and engine - used to run it remapped and that was pushing out 226bhp, through a company called TorquingBHP.

i'm happy now to run it standard and not have to worry about any of the engine components failing due to the extra load that a remap puts on them.

i've not got any 0-60 times to quote you

I don't see any need to modify the 3.0 V6 CDTI
However, there may be benefits to a remap for fuel economy as the OEM package doesn't return a very good MPG

I bought mine for long-term reliability, ease of driving on long journeys, and refined driving
You can hardly hear the engine at low revs, even at low speeds which is unusual for a diesel
Equally, you can drive at almost any speed without many gear changes
I quite often drive from 1st to 2nd, then once at 30mph straight into 6th gear!
However, put the windows down (on a dry day), put some power down, and the turbo will sing to you!

Not sure whether you are looking at hatch / saloon or estate, or manual or auto...
However here are my specs on my 04MY which is a 05 reg :
    Maximum speed : 140mph
    0 - 60 mph : 8.3 seconds
    30 - 50 mph (4th gear) : 5.3 seconds

    The auto has :
    Maximum speed : 138 mph
    0 - 60 mph : 8.5 seconds

Yep i agree that the standard engine is very very good. On a recent trip to italy i was getting 45 mpg while doing anything from 60 to 130mph. And yes when you get the gearing right it will keep up with most cars once above 30. I just fancy a bit more mid range power. I only do 6000 miles a year (3000 in italy) so fuel consumption ismt really an issue to me (i was doing 60000 when i bought the car but changed job soon after). I think the problem is i compare it with other 3ltr diesels and its mid range doesnt seem to be quite as good.

But i suppose keeping it stock does as mentioned keep it reliable

I tried the tuning box method (on low settings),which seems to work fine for a while and then you get the 'spanner light' unexpectedly coming on while your tootling around somewhere.I thought about a remap, but even then you're still putting more pressure on things like CR pumps etc.K&N filters don't really do anything other than increase induction noise and get bunged up with all manner of insect life.

The parts prices for this engine are astronomical.

Not really much to recommend for peace of mind.

Yep, a fuel pump costs around three grand fitted, if done at Vx.

when i had my 3.0cdti automatic i fitted a tuning box,it was set for approx 210bhp ,by loading the transmission i managed a 0-60 in 7.4 seconds, the car was very fast and you could feel it,on a dual carriage way you could put your foot down a bit, hold the revs at approx 2k revs and the speedo would move very quickly ,i pi***d off a few chavs around here as they did not expect a vectra sri to leave them, let alone a diesel (dont think they noticed the 3.0 badge)i dont know what they would have thought if they found out the car was a auto diesel but i did have fun in that car

I have had Dieseltuninguk module fitted for about 12 mths now with no adverse affects whatsoever. I have it set on #3 and have had top end of 152 with 0-60 in just 7.1 secs.

I had a scooby UK model struggle to keep with me, couldnt pass at all and my lads clio 172 struggled also and his is remapped to 187bhp

I love mine to bits and wouldnt let it go especially when only offered £4.5k for it - not a lot for an 05 plate so thought sod it I'll keep it as a 3rd car
