Default GSi Brake upgrade to 314mm?

    Hi all,

    I have a 52 plate 3.2gsi, being a more early 52 plate its has the 302mm disc's on it.
    Now a few questions..

    1) Will the calipers on there take the 314mm discs and pads?
    2) if they wont fit on the old calipers, would it be worth the upgrade for the extra 12mm?

    thanks

Yes its worth the upgrade. Are you sure you have the 302's? not many did but it is possible. I think Drinky did his on his 3.2 Elite.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I changed to 314's from 302's on my 2.0T. The calipers are considerably larger and the bigger brakes do make a world of difference. Clearly the V6's should all have had 314's from the outset.

    the 52 , 03 , 53 plated GSi's were fitted with 302mm front discs.

late 53 and onwards were fitted with 314mm.

1: i'm afraid the calipers are completely different between the 302 and 314's.. so it won't fit..

2:.. you sure will notice a difference... the 302 cars are underbraked anyway.. hence why VX went 'up' in size...Duncan had 314's fitted to his 302 equipped 2.0T and he certainly noticed....

I've gone one step further and now run 345mm on the front of mine..

    Thanks for the quick replies.
I will now have to go on the hunt for a set.

While i was there i was also thinking about doing the goodridge braded hose upgrade, did that on an old orion years ago and it made so much difference.

just make sure it's a veccy c kit, as some folks have been sold kits with the rear fitting made too small to be used..
