Default Astra Diesel VXR (according to Auto Express)

Anyone seen this weeks Auto Express? They're claiming to have driven the next Astra VXR Diesel. What they've actually driven is the 888 Astra CDTi that Matt has told us about a while ago now.

I must say it does look the business, but I would question Auto Express' figure that it produces over 400Nm of torque. Doesn't this conflict with what we've discovered about the chocolate gearboxes on the CDTi's? Or are they rated to 400lbft of torque?

Anyway the car looks amazing, and I can't wait for the performance centre to open to general public.

Yeah AE gets a bit tiresome after a bit.

How many times do they publish a "shock" front page with the "EXCLUSIVE" NEW <INSERT OLD CAR NAME HERE THAT JOE BLOGS RECOGNISES> only for it to be vapourware or just a show car?

They seem to be quite happy to let the facts take a back seat for a good story.

I quite like the old fashioned approach in Autocar, but they have too many Ads in the back and not enough entertaining content.

Like the time they published a photo of the non-existent Focus Cosworth by taking the official launch photo of the Focus rally car and airbrushing all the logos off of it!
