Default Help please ! worrying warranty issue

2006 Vectra exclusiv - 24000 mls (network Q) purchased back in feb 08

The internal drivers door release handle stopped working yesterday. It pulls out as normal but does not open the door.

Car went into dealers this morning, with me thinking a straight forward warranty job would apply. Just had a call back saying that "yes it is broken !!!" but the whole internal door trim will need replacing and they are not sure whether it will be covered by warranty. The cost if not will be apprx £400

The car has the remainder of manufacturers and a network Q warranty, surely this would be classed as a mechanical failure and is covered.

    Can anyone advise ??
    Rather worried !!

    thanks in advance

Tell them they are talking bollox!!!

It's still under the Vx 3 year warranty so tell them to get it done or you will report it to Vx head office.

I think that would be covered under Network Q and the VXL warranty, tell them to pick which one they wanna book the job to and get it fixed!

I'll keep my powder dry until they call me. But I'll be going mental at them if they say it's not covered.

    Ta btw

    they CAN'T duck it...

NetworkQ will cover it entirely......... if they say no, ask them exactly why and then ask them to put you through to VX customer services......

    Unbelievable !!

They (VX customer services ) are not prepared to cover this under warranty, they are trying to claim that it is a trim issue and is therefore not covered after the first year

The door handle has not broken off, and looks perfect, it just fails to open the door itself. It is therefore clearly a mechanical defect within the door and should be covered.

I now have to pay £417 to fix this. I'm totally gobsmacked by this whole thing.

I really don't know what to do next. Can anyone suggest what I should do.

I am totally prepared to take this as far as possible, ie; contacting the motoring press etc.

As above, I agree that it is still under the third year option of the warranty
However, the Network Q warranty will also cover the failure of any electrical lock component UNLESS it has already been replaced over 12 months ago

Personally, go to a different dealership and tell them about the fault (don't mention you had problems with another dealership)

Just take the Service Manager out to the car tell him to get in and out of it and to indentify which bit of "trim" is stopping him from being able to get out.

Also ask him to put it on headed paper that they are refusing to cover this under either warranty for whatever reason. As above, go to another dealer to get it sorted (under warranty) and then if you still want to, persue the case with VXL customer services.

Good luck, I hope you get it sorted soon.

As above, the handle is trim, the cable within the door is not trim! Ask them what part of the trim is damaged????? Its unbelievable.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
