    Default Stonechips & Repairing?

Gave the car a good going over yesterday, to my horror the front is covered in stonechips, never really had many before. I have a couple of questions, are these chipsaway type companies any good and how much do they charge. Also seems like I have been attacked with them after fitting the front splitter, i reckon the chips cannot get under the car so they are pinging off the bumper/bonnet instead. Anyone else found this ? Being black they are very noticable with the undercoat being silver ! I have filled them all in with a chip stick at the moment.

Not so sure on the companies mate as I've never used one but it would be good to find out about them as the front of mine is covered in stonechips... like you said also having a dark coloured car doesn't help matters!!

This is the first car that i've had that seems to attract stones... only a few weeks ago I had a stone bounce off the bumper (which left a nice chip!) and hit the windscreen... big crack!! luckily my insurance company sent someone out to fix it foc

My Vx dealer use the local Chipsaway franchise before they sell 2nd hand. When I decided on which car I wanted they asked me to go round the car and point out all stone chips, scratches and blemishes on the paint and they got Chipsaway in the day before I collected it. On darker colours the finish is excellent and you can't tell that it has ever been repaired.

As for lighter colours, you have to be very careful, my old Star Silver Astra G had had a few repairs done by chipsaway and they had a lot of trouble getting the colour to match... you could still see the repairs from some angles in bright light.

    My (good) experience with ChipsAway.

I have the same as you Tommy, a number of little chips on the leading edge of the bonnet - need to get sorted some time as well as a bumper respray!!
