    Default changing plugs

    got a 55 plate sri 27,000 miles should i change the plugs? how much for plugs and what is the best to get. thanks

    VX ones, about £4 each iirc.

    And yes change em every 20k, I know the book will say different, but the book is a repmobile pleaser.

    Are they easy to change do yo have to set ant gaps or are they all done?

    Should be pre gapped tbh, as for changing them I've not done a set myself on that engine, but iirc all you do is remove the centre strip off the cam cover, pull the spark pack up and undo the plugs, might need a 5 inch extention for your wrench though, and try to turn the new ones in by hand most of the way, and only tighten until you feel it bite, alloy heads don't like overtightening, hth.

    this is an old tip i was given years ago

    when replacing your new plugs, fit 12" of hose pipe over the end of the plug, when you turn the plug into the engine, if the hose slips, the plug is cross threading, you can still feel if the plug is seated correctly

    saves a lot of aggro
