    Default Mpg On 2.2sri Petrol

    Hi guys,

    hoping you can help.

Thinking of buying a 2005 2.2SRI petrol Vectra but not sure about the mpg.

Have been told by the dealers that this car will easily achieve 40mpg but I have my doubts!! Thought I would ask those that know.

I drive about 20000 miles per year and a mixture of everything really, from town to mainly a roads and motorways.

Any idea what I can really expect to see? Needs to be at least 35 average mpg.

    Thanks all,
    Pete.

I would think you would be very lucky to acheive an average 40mpg in a 2.2 petrol of any sort.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

A 2005 2.2 would be the 2.2 Direct. This is important as its more economical than the non direct (before April 2004).
I had a 2.2 Direct for 2 years and the best mpg I ever got was 35mpg, you will never get 40mpg. That was on A roads. Around town you'll get around 29-30mpg. The older non-direct 2.2 I belive were quite poor on fuel and no better than a 2.0T.
Also, when I got my 3.0 V6 its far more economical than the 2.2 Direct.

Edit: if you get a Vectra, your going to have to change your username

You might be able to achieve 40mpg on a run sitting at 70, at least I did in my 2.0T(newborn in the car), but averaging it with everyday driving, not a chance in an icy hell mate sadly.
