    Default Chips with that Sir?

Going to have the car re-mapped tomorrow at Chipped UK. I'd have loved to have fitted a Powerklick box, but for my old oiler of an engine (2.2Dti), it's a hardwired job and the car is still under warranty.
A 100 mile run back should confirm any gains, but I am a realist and only expecting about 25 or so BHP. The increased torque will be nice though as the car's an auto.
    Will report back tomorrow evening!!

Well, here's where we are with it so far.
Had it re-mapped at Chipped UK yesterday. Started to drive home and the spanner appeared on the dash and the car went into limp mode.
Promptly turned back around and went back. They tried a couple of things with no success, so they wound the wastegate adjustment back and took the car off for a run. About 45 minutes later the car comes back after they had taken it to Vx saying it was all sorted.

They had Tech 2'd it and reset everything.
I now had no spanner but the engine management light was on. "Don't worry, the fuel pressure needs to build back up, when it does the light will go out" I was told.

I started the drive home cautiously as instructed. After about 60 miles, the car still wouldn't run properly. It seemed to be in limp mode but there was no spanner on the dash board.

I rang them to inform them of this, and was asked to let the car idle for 10 minutes if possible. This I did. No change. I switched the engine off and re-started it, all seemed fine. I pulled onto the motorway, floored it to join traffic, and ***** me, the ****** thing slowed down and went into limp mode.

I had to drive the remaining 60 miles like that, not funny I can tell you. Rang them when I got home to be asked to disconnect the battery and leave it for an hour. This I did, made no difference whatsoever.

The upshot of all this is that I now have an undriveable car, it's booked into my local Vx dealership for next Tuesday and I'm £225 out of pocket. I am not happy.
Whatever the bill is next week, Chipped UK will be paying and I will be asking for a refund as well.

    One VERY pi**ed off Nigel.

Sh17, that doesn't sound very good. West Mids have a meet there next month.

I hope you get it all sorted and cash returned.

Thats not the first bad thing I have heard about chipped UK, they are giving you the run around basically.

I would have them replace the standard map in the car. There are not many companies in the UK that have actually successfully re-mapped the Vectra C with the Diesel engine.

Courtenay and Regal have done it, even superchips have not managed to do it through serial programming, they have to remove the ECU and re-programme directly into the ECU.

I would just be very wary.

The comment on letting the fuel pressure build up is a corker, if re-mapped corrctly, the ECU should automatically have the higher fuel pressure map address's installed.

The problem is the 220 mile round trip.
I am not a happy bunny. I need my car for work. If we didn't have a second car I would be f**ked. I knew the fuel pressure bit was cr!p. Could you imagine VX telling one of their customers to go on a 100 mile journey to build up fuel pressure? Problem was I was so fed up by then I just wanted to get the hell out of there.
Lets see what transpires before I comment further.

yikes! I was actually thinking of having mine 'tweaked' but I couldn't deal with the potential problems. I notice that Vauxhall offer an upgrade on the 2.2 diesel, I think it's actually an Irmscher part, Is it worth checking this out? At least then if you had any probs, the dealer would have to sort it out.

I think for the time being, the only chips in my car will come with a Big Mac.

But if anyone knows of a reliable system.....

Is yours still under warranty m8? If not there hard wired in versions that should work that are a lot cheaper than the dealer option. Check the tuning section or speak to Mike (Diagnostix) or Andrew (Abyss) for more info.

EDIT: Sorry to hear about your mota Nigel, Deffo a fob off if you ask me. It's a shame they ar so far away, makes the problem even worse. Don't let it rest until it is sorted though.
