Default Real World Mpg Figures For Petrol 2.2

    Hi Guys,

sorry, but need to ask a question that has most likely been asked many times before.

Am going today to look at a couple of 2.2sri petrol Vectras, both 2005 models.

I've been told that they can return an average of 40mpg with ease but I wonder!!

I do about 20000 p/year. About 50 miles per/week stuck in traffic on a commute and the rest a mixture of motorway/town and A roads.

So the question is for those that are already driving them is what can I realistically expect to see.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks all, Pete.

    40mpg

Yes they can average 40mpg but only if you drive everywhere like a vicar on a sunday outing.
In normal everyday life such as you will be doing it will be lucky to get low/mid 30's.

my old 2.2 direct SRI got 31mpg on a 40 mile daily round trip mainly motorway , when i used to commute over the tyne bridge in stop start traffic it was around 28mpg . long trips to leicester from newcastle i used to get around 35mpg driving normally . Also i think the direct is better on consumption than the non direct so if yours is non direct expect less !!

    As above.

Highest on a long run has been 37mpg.

That said,on a motorway, she's a different beast altogether and i'd easily do around 280 miles on half a tank with the 6th gear.

I get about 390 miles to a tank (62l?) of mixed driving in my 2005 direct pre-facelift. On the motorway it is obviously much better.

You might be able to achieve 40mpg on a run sitting at 70, at least I did in my 2.0T(newborn in the car), but averaging it with everyday driving, not a chance in an icy hell mate sadly.
