    Default Whu Whu Whu Whu

Had the misfortune of having Pirelli P6000s imposed on me when my front boots needed changing. It took 3 attempts to get the sodding things balanced and even now they're not exactly the most stable tyre in the wet.

And now I get what I was convinced was a wheel bearing going. Whu Whu Whu goes the noise, the faster I go the faster it goes. Its definitely the wheels as its unrelated to engine speed or gear. Its definitely not a wheel bearing having had them checked twice. So it must be the sodding tyres - having done a bit of reading there are reports of the noise getting worse as P6000s wear.

Anyone had a similar problem? Anyone got a solution short of me shredding them and getting them replaced? Not sure even that would work - my company now has a Pirellis only policy, and from what I have read about the replacement P7s the one consistent message from user reviews is excessive noise!

Vectra used to be a nice quiet place to sit at 90mph. Now its loud and not in a nice way....

Sorry mate, but if you're getting them for free (and the car, except tax) then what's the complaint? I would put up with road noise if I was getting new tyres for free everytime.

Do like everyone else does, and turn up the stereo.

Can you challenge the company decision to go Pirelli exclusively?

You shouldn't be going at 90 mph anyway

i would take them back and tell them the tyres are noise and they can send them back to pirelli to be checked out. as for the wheel bearings you cant spin them up by and fast enough to see if they are noise or not

Cos they're not fit for purpose. Outfits like Pirelli get away with supplying **** tyres knowing that big corporate contracts mean they can get away with it. As for challenging them, its all about money. A year back it was Dunlops only......

    FREE?? FREE???!!!!

Seriously, do people ctually KNOW how much the tax burden ofa company car and fuel card is these days????

I always thought nice new company car - no brainer, I'll take it every time, and so I did.

Then I "did the math" as people are fond of saying...

I now drive an '04 1.8 SXi, converted to run LPG. I'm around £500 PER MONTH, (Yes, £500 per MONTH), better off.

On top of that, I now make an additional £100 to £160 per month on fuel savings (we are paid a fixed figure per mile for fuel).

Free car?? Free fuel?? Free maintenance?? Dont make me laugh...

Because they are free / company provided doesn't mean that should you have to put up with faulty goods, by all accounts the car runs fine with different tyres, so the tyres are obviously at fault.. that annoying noise could distract you far more than say using the phone whilst driving..
goto your lease companies office and ask for someone to take your car for a test drive and see if they would put up with it..

Maybe I'm looking at it from my position. If I had a fully expensed car, i would save a fortune, as I easily do over 25K a year. I know tht company cars aren't free, but can work out a damn sight cheaper than running your own privately owned car if you do enough miles

Whu Whu Whu can be a warped brake disc btw, can you feel anything through the pedal? and check the wheel nuts are tight, sometimes the wheel isn't all the way on when they do the nuts up and as it rotates the slack comes back.
