    Default computer password

my friend's brought a laptop from a mate and he put a user account on it for him but left one on of his own its an administrator one but his own is a limited or guest account is it possible some how to gain access to the admin account as its password protected, the laptop was a replacement for a faulty one and was only supposed to be a temp but he's having probs trying to get hold of him so he's decided to forget it and keep the one he's left as its been several months. ANY ideas??

Password sniffer, but you have to pay for them unfortunately.

A common requirement. What sort of account/password? Are you talking about one in the Bios to prevent changes or one in the operating system where you log in?

If it is the latter and it's Windows there are a several tools around to do the job, many free, and most available on the various forums that handle this kind of hacking.

As you will see there are plenty of ways to change it within Windows, but I think the issue here is how to change it before you hit the login screen, cos unless you have loaded fully you will still be locked out, generally I think you have to have a floppy disc prog and change it in dos to have any chance of unlocking the user account.
