do you not have the rocker wheel on the left of the steeringwheel for controlling trip?
it just defaults to trip only when you use an aftermarket HU.

If you have the left thumbwheel on your steering wheel then that gives you access to trip, average instant etc etc. Just press it in and hold it to access the menu and then use the same wheel to cycle through the features.
