    Default Motorpoint- Any good?

    Hi all,

I'm after a Veccy 1.9 CDTI Elite on an O8 plate and I've noticed that Motorpoint have one in stock for 11,499. Which, imo, ain't a bad price!

However, I don't know much about Motorpoint. Anybody bought from them before and if so, did they do a decent PX?

Have a 1.9 SRI CDTI on an O4 plate to PX. Currently on 72K with quite a few marks and one dent on the offside rear wheel arch.

I'm loathed to go my local dealers as they are all part of the Perry's franchise

    Cheers

    Steve

Motorpoint offer bottom part-x in my experience (went and kicked the tyres but didn't actually buy from them because of this) and aren't up for haggling. Check the car's history too as they handle a fair number of imports which are sometimes specced differently.

their PX offer will be poor at best...we've bought from them in the past, but it's only ever best to deal with them in straight cash...

I bought my first Vectra from them.....they actually gave me a good price for my wife's corsa that we part ex'd. No haggling on price of car I bought though. They tried to charge a valeting fee...circa £90. I argued that this was there cost to keep the car clean whilst in storage. They dropped it in the end. Also watch out as some cars don't come with 2 keys !

I returned my first car due to damage that had been repaired poorly (prior to Motorpoint taking car from Vauxhall). They changed the car after a little battle, claiming they would resell car as it was !

As stated above they give bottom price on px if the car is anywhere near new

I bought mine from them without part ex. As a result got a very good deal. Mine was just a bit above half price from new at 9 months old.
Buying experience was fairly painless although I think they were a bit miffed they couldnt sell me anything else to make up the sale a bit (such as their boomarang finance, gap insurance, other extras for the car including remap etc...). Only trouble was I had to pay a fee on top of the price to get the car transported from up north somewhere to Newport (nearest to me).

They make their money on the finance, insurance etc side of things, not the profit on the motors. They source cars from all over, inc abroad, ex-rentals etc. Stealers can be beggars I know an do charge over the odds at times, but I got my 150 CDTi SRi Nav 8mth old for half list price with only 16k on the clock which is comparable to Carcraft's deal. At least you've a reasonable chance of knowing 'where' a cars been from a dealership.. the supermarkets will take and flog owt

If deal sounds to good to be true, probably is!!

got my astra brand new from motorpoint in Burnley, would buy again great service. PX offer was low, but car was £5,200 cheaper than VX online deal price. If you can private sell yours your on a winner.

They did try really hard to sell me polish protection, tyre insurance, gap insurance, fart stain insurance, finance, finance protection gap insurance... etc etc...

I didnt buy any, its not you who benefits on this kind of policy.
