    Default Tyre Pressures?

    I hope this is in the right place. Can someone confirm for me, i know it says the tyre pressures in the hand book but there are so many different combinations on the net etc. Last time i had a tyre fited the bloke inflated it to 37. Discussion led to the fact this is what he believes it should be at and it states on several websites that 37/38 all round is the best psi. Handbook states 32 front and 35 rear (without double checking, sure someone may correct me).

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Should have mentioned i have standard 17" on my SRI. How do you find it runs? Have you ever used lower pressures?

    was told to double your wheel size and add 2 lb so

    17 = 36
    18 = 39
    19 = 40
    mine was at 32 but since being told that, increased it to 36 all around

    This is what i am trying to get at. I understand that vauxhall will state tyre pressures that are suitable for the make/model of vehicle but is there something behind it all that is explainable? e.g cars can go faster than they are limited to but won't due to other countries regulations that also needed to be taken into consideration when in production. Vauxhall do state however that a higher psi for fuel economy in the handbook also.......

    I think it runs fine, not had any problems and it feels more controllable than with lower pressures. i used to run 32 all round but found it runs better with increase pressure. tbh most people that work for vx are trained by monkeys in the zoo, thats why i hate the dealers and would believe members here over vx staff

    Ditto. Never had the best service from dealers as i'm sure everyone would agree. More likely to trust my local family run garage. Years of experience and treats customers as they would want them to return. Pressure increase in the morning then see how we go.
