    Default Remote key stopped workin'!

    Guys,
My facelift vectra C key remote has stopped working. It still physically unlocks doors, and starts the engine. I bought a new battery from ebay, put it in and tried it, it unlocked the doors once, but then won't work anymore apart from that one time. Do I need to reprogram it? It was dead for a couple of weeks before I put the new battery in. Do I need a new key?
    Cheers.

The fact that it starts the car only shows that the bit in the key half works. The job of the fob is simply to lock & unlock the doors. If it doesn't lock/unlock via the buttons then test the battery or try another one. If you still have problems & yours has a light that doesn't light up then it's time to get a new fob & have it paired to the car as the car wouldn't lose the program for your fob unless there's a serious ECU problem.

    Unhappy key fob

Have a similar problem with mine but for different reasons, ok I washed it as explained on another thread, and I've read most of the threads on remedying it. Tried putting key into ignition, turning ignition on but not starting then pressing one of the buttons to let the car reset the key as suggested!!! Result is the car only recognised that key that allowed it to do it's own thing. Did the same thing with GOOD key and reset it all. Am going to dealers to see if they can reprogramme it (£35) or bite the bullet and get new key ( £53 plus the programming and VAT). Not taking anymore risks / chances of b**g**ing the whole system or worse still the car opening the doors while I'm away and returning to an empty parking space.
