Default How to fit standard DIN sized ALPINE CDE9850Ri in VECTRA C (2003 model)

I want to fit an alpine CDE9850Ri in my vectra c and wondered if anyone has experience fitting a single din sized unit in the vectra's and what is involved? I assume I need to remove the existing double din cage and somehow fit the single one from the alpine, and then add a new facia adaptor. What about the wiring? The vectra has what looks like 2 iso connectors but a 3rd multipin connector for the CAN stuff. Can I get an adaptor that plugs just into the 2 iso bits for the alpine? Any help please!!!

    Thanks
    Simon

Hi Simon, my Vectra is 2003, replaced cdr2005 with Sony cdxr6750. If you buy the Vauxhall facia adapter, it comes with a harness that converts the big double vehicle plug down to std connectors. You will lose display info for radio and steering wheel controls. I got round this by fitting a connects 2 box, I still have these fuctions and mp3 id3 tags are displayed.
    Hope this helps

Thanks Ian, that sounds good.. but I'm guessing the vauxhall kit is expensive? I'm not bothered about the display and steering controls, though Ive heard theres no way to set the clock! Does anyone else do the adaptors as I didnt see it on the vauxhall website.

If you have the 2003 model Vectra you can still set the clock manually using the computer stork controls as I can with mine, you just loose the RDS auto setting method. I have put a Kenwood in mine and brought their VX interface which works fine with the steering wheel controls. But I think the later Vectra's 04 onwards Vauxhall have changed the CAN bus again and with the later CD30 head units apprentely the clock setting was done though the radio buttons so then you will have a problem setting the time and date.

Definitely get the proper Vaux fascia adaptor. It actually works out cheaper than buying the Autoleads copy, because you get all the parts required, whereas going down the other route you have to buy the wiring harness separately. Alpine use a company called Incartec for their steering control adaptors, so see if they do anything for the Vec. Don't bother emailing them coz they never answer!

Thanks guys, you've been a great help... what a fab place this forum is!

I've just ordered the metallic coloured vauxhall facia kit and even had a discount, so under £20! However the best buy of all has to be the new Alpine CDE 9850Ri (with fast Ipod connection), Pixmania are doing it for £149 inclusive!! Wow... I thought about it for a millisecond and ordered one straight away...

Now all I need is to uncode my existing NCDC2013 sat nav to sell it, but the dealer wants to charge me a horrendous £100 to do so! So I think it will be sitting on the shelf for a while.....

I'm assuming the factory fit speakers in the veccy sri will be good enough, though I'd like to add some tweeters in the rear door if it improves the sound. Is it an easy job?

Oh and of course, I'm hoping eventually to get a steering control (and maybe even display) adaptor for the alpine and veccy.

Had a look for reviews of Pixmania and it's not good. Prices are fantastic, but delivery and customer service are very poor, apparently. I hope it turns up quickly, but don't hold your breath waiting for the stereo to be delivered. Let me know what happens.
