    Default i am a donkey..... (cd30 question)

    Hello,

I tried getting my CD30 out today to stick in my MP3 pioneer h/u. I tired everything in the 4 holes, first nails , then coathangers

    Nothing worked

Then read here that apparently theres allen key head screws in there??

    Be this true??

If so, what size are they please?

and by sticking objects into holes they souldn't be in; if i've broken the screw heads how do i get them/or headunit out??

    Cheers cheers

I am not sure of the size without going to have a look. But it is very doubtfull that you have damaged the "grub screws" that are there to make stealing a radio more difficult. you will need an Alen key to get the grub screw out, as I say I am not sure of the size. If you have a set of them give them a try. But from what I have read. It still might be very difficult to budge the " radio".

If they are anything like the older Vauxhall headunits, then you will need special pullers.

I'm sure someone will verify this shortly.

wire coat hanger bent into the correct shape is fine to remove the head unit, after the 2mm (i think) allen nutt's are removed

ive had a few that are really tight to come out if you get the proper keys it shound come out, not all have the allen bolts fitted and if they are you can normally see them there right at the front, if it is still tight u can take the glove box out and get behind the radio an give it a push that can sometimes help.

Vauxhall don't seem to put the small screws in the holes anymore ... if they are in you will be able to see them clearly and you will need to remove them. Once out you can try and make your own removal 'keys' from a coat hanger as Rich suggests or you can pay a fiver at halfords for a proper set: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_124989

you can get the pullers from halfords, and it is a very tight fitting headunit.

The cage is a *******d to get out (my car bit my finger lol) and then from there it is all plain sailing.

reason being i actually changed my head unit and installed my sub today and was cursing for a good 2 hours trying to get the GM cage out lol
