Default Do you regret modifying your car??

Sat here waiting to deliver in Coca Cola, Sidcup, and having a bit of a reminisce about the Black Beast, and got thinking..

Off the back of Glynn's Thread, i got thinking...

Do you regret modifying your car's at any time, when it comes to insurance, leaving it parked somewhere....

I dont have my C anymore as you all know, and there were times when i actually hated havng a highly modified car..

Example - If anyone has ever driven a car on coilover's, they will know they are bumpy as hell, well i took my C to Denmark not long before i sold it, and it was the most torrid journey i have ever done in a car, every bump, lump, stone, ant for 2000 miles we felt, and when i got there my ar*e was numb!!! I ot out of the car, and i genuinely hated it, it was uncomfortable, it was impractical, it was a pain in the ar*e!!!!

    But....The Good Points..

On the same trip, i parked it in the harbour at Grena in Denmark and went for a walk looking at boats and stuff, and was gone a hour, when i came back, i couldnt see my car, i thouht it had been stolen!! There was a group of 15-20 people near where it was parked, and i have legged it over thinking it had been stolen, when i got there, there was my car in the centre of these people with everyone wondering what the hell it was... As you all know it had no badges on it, so there was nothing to the untrained eye to identify it!! These people were astounded t hear it was a Vectra!!!
At the point, every ounce of hatred, uncomfort, impacticality, and ar*e ache left me, and i was loving the attention it got!!! My Danish friend was actually translating questions for me as they were that taken by it!!! It was then i started thinking...

For all the downsides, Too Low, Too Uncomfortable, Too Impractical, scared to leave it anywhere, More insurance, More Police Attention, more of everything...

Do i actually regret modifying that car.....

    DO I F*CK!!!!!!

    And this is why......

However, ask me if i regret seling it, the answer could be so very very different...

Anyway, how about you lot, do you regret modifying your car's???

I don't regret modifying my vec, but i wish i'd had the money (or patience!) to do it properly with irmscher parts instead of the cheap and badly fitting JDL stuff...

i dont regret modifing my vec.
even have coilovers doesnt bother me as im used to the hard ride, my corsa 'b' (first car) had coilovers on for most of the time i owned it, then i got the vec and had coilovers on about 6 months later.

early last year i hated the car but that was because loads of little things were goin wrong at the same time, rear upper arms, brakes makin noises etc etc, but once these were sorted i loved it again.

i love the attention it gets, and i havent had much police attention really. a guy from VOSA had a word with me about me tints but thats all really.

sometimes i regret gettin the 1.8LS (fuel consumption seems worse than the bigger engines). The colour, not so much a regret, but i prefer other colours now, e.g, white, black, red.

I don't regret it at all...in fact, i don't regret any of them...

Mrs GSi's was the first veccy C that i 'went to town on' since my days of wild and hairy engined mini's or off roading in my landrovers.. Then common sense and a mortgage got hold of us.. so it was back to 'standardsville' for a while..never even modded my Cav V6..

Then came the GSi..that only got a grille for a while as it wasn't 'PC' for work to drive a modded car... gives the wrong image..so that stayed standard..

When we got Cara her 2.2 veccy C we threw the irmy catalogue at it.. total all over respray, as many mods as we could do to it...Then that became too much of a lemon with reliability so we hacked it in for the signum and thats on it's 3rd 'stage' of being modded...and in the background subtley and covertly modded the GSi into the tarmac terrorist that it now is.. With the advent of the 2.8T Elite coming on the scene i can make it a bit more 'show' to match the 'go'..so hence the irmy sripes i've coveted for about 2 yrs but just couldn't fit...

in short , we've spent £000's on them.. yes we worry about them but suitable security precautions are taken and they are fully insured for what they are should anything unthinkable happen..

regret it?.. not with all the good freinds we've made off of here..

My first car, a MK2 escort, got colour coded front grill & a set of rally giant spot lights
my 3 cavaliers after that only really got rear spoilers.

With this Vectra, it's the most modding I've ever done & no, I don't regret it

I've never been a member of a car club either, & as Mark said, the amount of good friends I've made on here since joining

In nearly every car I've ever owned, I've always done at least some mods. Never particularly extreme, but always things like colour coding, better radio, changing the gauge colours. Never once regretted it!
