Default Rear Vents - My poor daughter is boiling!

    Hi,

I have a 57 plate Vectra Sri 1.8 VVT. When I purchased it I never considered rear air vents as my 1 year old daughter was in her old car seat and she was okay in other cars without rear vents. Since buying the Vectra we have got the Recaro Young Sport car seat (this is a great seat, for anyone looking) problem is with the great protection she is so enclosed she gets very hot. Even when we have the front vents on full AC with us freezing.

Now I wish I had rear air vents and am very concerned about keeping little one cool. I am considering swapping the car for a Leon FR 150 TDi which will be a lot lot quicker and has rear vents, but small boot.

Anyway, my question is, can I retro fit the vents into the car? if so how complex is it as I can't take the car to part, not it I want it to work again.

    Thanks

Stick the AC on and hit the recycle button, that or buy a new kid seat it's cheaper.

All the kids seats from group 1 onwards are very enclosed due to the side protection etc. so a new seat would not help. The Recaro Young Sport is an excellent seat, very good protection and its groups 1-3 which is handy. Also looks cool!

My 2 year old is always wet with sweat when we get him out of his car seat, hadn't considered the enclosure thing, but as you say all are the same, we have the Maxi Cosi. It is a good point about the vents, also a pain that the rear windows are manual so cant even open them a bit when going a long!!

Big job as it needs ducting, new air box and vents. Are the windows tinted?

I've got rear air vents and my baby is always, more or less, but wet. The thing is you cannot direct it on your child. It helps to change the air at the back of the car but to be honest - not too much as main air stream comes from the front of the car. So rather consider not to dress your daughter to warm .

However it is possible to buy the whole part. I recon somebody is selling one on e-bay...

    Was it easy to do?

I do have the rear windows tinted now. Someone needs to bring out a car seat with fans built in. I have just got a battery powered fan and cliped it to the top of the seat pointing down onto my daughters head/down back of her neck. Seems to help.
