Ok, here's how it went, first of all we bumed a lift on this along the coast, so much quicker than driving and there's no speed cams
Then we transferred to our yacht where we'd be staying
Ok, so I lied and we had to settle for one of these
First things first so we popped into Torquay, where it's always nice, a good browse around the shops and a wander around the harbour.
This evening the Torquay regatta was on so we got to see the fireworks.
We set off to visit Bygones, this is an old pub/bank that has loads of historical stuff in it and it was a very good visit if I say so myself.
As you can see it's laid out as lots of small scale shops in a cobbled street, the shops are full of items from the periods they are set in.
This urchin kept on and on about *Getcha chestnuts*
A WW2 shelter recreation, this led through to a war time trench with soldier models going over and sheltering in the mud, very atmospheric and makes you think.
This was one of the many model scenes, I've included it as it has the Bygones tram in it.
And it's down to Brixham, this is where the replica of the Golden Hind is tied up in the harbour, didn't go on it this time as we'd already done it before, there was a pirate music show on that day on the quayside.
These cows were very friendly and came over to say hello
!st time in about 30 yrs since I've been in a Kart, saw it from the road and thought it would be an experience for the kids, 1st race I took it easy as I had one kid at a time alongside me and I'd seen a couple of karts collide and do 180's in the process so I wasn't taking any chances, I kept to the outside all through the 1st race and finished last, but in the second I had a feel for the kart more and gave it some finishing second to a single seater.
And what better way to finish the day than to watch the Reds performing, I ran out of battery as they went over us in arrow formation, and what a shot it would've been, so you'll just have to make do with this one.
And it's off to the beach at Paignton
1st up Donkeys, look closely at the 1st picture and tell me what you see
This is a beach shot, lovely scenery again.
As we hit the beach a competitive streak took me over and a castle comp ensued
I called mine Smirnoff Castle as I found a bottle top in the sand and used it as a coat of arms
Off to Bovey Tracey to see the marble factory/museum
In these pictures you can see a retired marble making machine, and the giant ball run, I liked the tubes in the last shot, but everything was very pricey, so I didn't purchase anything, there were some seconds candle sticks at 50 quid each and a seconds glass chess board, are you sitting down.......450 quid
A relaxed day as it was the last one, so off round to Teignmouth * Tinmoth*, lovely little place, had a stroll round getting stuff for the family etc and the kids loved the play park.
So, there you have it, a totally superb week away, weather was overcast till about 11am then it came out nice each day, I feel like I really had something special last week, we had a week like things were when me and the better half 1st met, not one row and I'm hoping to keep that going now were home, I had a look at myself once I realise how things were last week, and I think I bring work home too much, so I will be switching off from now on on that front once the meter stops, we had a real funny one towards the end of it all, at the camp nightspot they do bingo and cabaret, as the week wore on the younger one decided to do the colouring competition during bingo and won it, so the next night the older one runs off to do the colouring comp, but she's done her picture and handed it in just in time to do the last big game of bingo for the night, and she also won the colouring, you could see the look of whatever you can do so can I on her face that night
Anyway I'm back, and I hope you enjoy this holiday diary from me
