Im new to diesels and my knowledge is not great with them. Im looking to get my 1.9 cdti 150 chipped. It has 88000 on the clock will this matter? And what chip would people suggest?

rather than do this again.... Use the search function for 'remap' and 'caterman box'... That should give you everything you need to make a decision

Should be fine - by 80k any niggles will have been ironed out. As long as it's been serviced properly you should have no issues at all.

80k miles on a diesel is absolutely nothing these days. With proper servicing, oil changed regularly, the engine itself will go and go to probably 250k+ easily. Turbo chargers/ancilliaries are what let the cars down eventually.
It depends what sort of imprpovements you want. A DTUK green box will give you more power and be fairly mild mannered at the top end. A red box gives a bit more grunt top end. A BSR remap will give a good strong spread of power right thru the rev range. Some of the tuning boxes will give you a shove in the back but feel quite extreme in everyday use until you learn to drive with the box. It's dependant on what you want. The tuning box just basically shoves more fuel in, tricking the management into thinking the engine needs more fuel. The remap alters the whole ECU program for temp/press/speed/etc. I personally like the tuning box feel but have a remap now as the wife uses the car more than me. I have a box if I need it, just undo the remap and stick the box on. Much more pull in top gear too with the PSI box I have.
    Hope that helps a bit.

One last thing tho, the tuning boxes are cheaper than the remaps. The PSI box was expensive back when I bought it.
