Default any problems with wheel bearings?

Im pretty sure im starting with the signs of a dry wheel bearing. After a decent length drive out at high speed, eg an hour on a motorway, when truning right i get a faint scraping noise. The noise sounds just like a catching brake or dry bearing. Its speed derived as it slows with the car and is not related to engine as depressing the clutch does nothing.

If the car is then left for a short while, say 10 mins, the noise has gone.

There are no signs of abnormal tyre wear or anything inside the wheel arch catching.

Has anyone else has this? At the minute its only a very very faint noise but you know what us enthusiasts are like, we hear everything.

I read on VVOC about someone who had a wheel bearing go, think it might have been v33tra, but then he has taxi`s so probably down to mileage.

Andy, is it from the rear and would you describe it as a rattling noise? If so, what is your VIN number (PM me if you'd rather not post it here). I only need the last 8 digits to check something.

OK, then it's not one of the known problems addressed by a Field Remedy. Haven't got to that section yet for posting.

Mines got 32000 on now and i'm starting to hear a grone from the front offside at low speeds especially when turning to the nearside. Recently changed the offside tyre so could be that but i have only just noticed it so can't pin it down to the tyre.

I had my n/s/f wheel bearing replace a few weeks ago... after a run up to the lakes and back I started to get a little groan from the front which just got progressivly louder and louder.

I booked it into JCT600 in Bradford and they sorted it out no problem under warranty and even gave my car a wash for free!!

I had about 27000 miles on the clock when it went.

You sure that wasn't the wife complaining about your driving!! LOL. I seem to get a groan from the front of my car, never happens when I'm on my own though!!!
