Default Hanbrake locking after washing car

Moving the cars around today and just at the time I was forwarding mine there was quite a bang from the back end of my veccy, thought the misses had reversed into mine ,but then dawned on me that yesterday morning I had washed the car and hadn't moved it up to this point, so I'm guessing it was to do with the handbrake and water ingress after washing it had locked the brakes on!! certainly never had this before on any other vehicles, has anyone else had this on theirs?

Really common on the Corsa B's and Some Cors C's but they are Drum brakes tho.

i know what you're saying mate, never had this before on disc brakes, might get a scrapeing sound where the discs rust up a bit , which clears after 1st or 2nd application of brakes, but never a banging sound like this!!

This happens to me every time I was the car. As I park my car in the garage most of the time I always drive the car into the garage after washing, leave the handbreak off and put the car in gear. No sticking.

That's the answer I think mate wash the car and leave handbrake off and car in gear, must make a 'Car in Gear' warning sign to put on the gear lever I think as i'm bound to forget it's in gear being a bit Braindead in the mornings!!

happens to me all the time, just parked it up with the handbrake off and in gear.

doesnt help that the brakes and disks are really low.

As said in my first post, only moved the car around and got that dreaded banging noise, but this morning was first trip out really since washing/ moving it around and first few humps/ bumps in the road there was a knocking noise and then settled down and now no noise at all, could this still have been the handbrake / cable sticking slightly and with suspension movement knocked it all back into place?

Not likely to be the handbrake cable.
This is more likely caused by the dust from the brake pads.
Modern asbestos free brake linings dust sets like glue when wet.
As stated it is more common on drum brakes (used to happen alot on the trucks I used to service, had to take a sledgehammer to some drums to free them off.)
Always happened when a driver washed his wagon off after a good run and then parked it up overnight.

Happened all the time with my Omega, right pain in the rear. I took it to be the handbrake cable was sticking, but I don't know as I never did anything about it.
