Thumbs down This MUST be a scam - anyone help?

The OH is selling her car. It was on Autotrader for a month with no interest, now been on fleabay for a few weeks but heard nothing until today. Out of the blue, she got a call from an 0845 number...

The story she was fed was that the caller was with a finance company, and this company specialise in finding cars and providing car loans for people with poor credit history. For the bargain fee of £79.99 they guarantee to have people calling her within the hour wanting to buy the car...

She's really naive and thinks this sounds like a great idea...

They didn't name the company they were calling from, or say where they saw the advert for the car. I've googled the phone numbers she was given, but nothing's coming up. Can anyone find a link to anything similar that I can show her?

Yep its a scam mate. when I was selling my car I had loads of these companys phoning up. They were telling me they had a number of customers looking for the exact same car as mine and if I paid the fee they would give them my contact details.

    It's a scam.

These companies trawl the private adverts then do what they've done to you - offer to sell it for you for a 'small' fee. Guess what - once they've got the fee they're off-ski.

Same experiences - one a friend who fell for it, one who fortunately didn't.

Search for Motorhelp for starters, but they change their names frequently.

Some quick searches here and here
