Default just got back off holiday and......

i decided to try the performance diesels for comparision, i tried BP ultimate and shell v power.

I did a lot of motorway cruising but it was mixed up with a good dose of devon lanes......

    the results are:

    BP Ultimate - 46.92mpg

    Shell V power - 52.10mpg

i was strange though because i was convinced the bp fuel was going to do better. It felt punchier than the shell.

I stuck to all speed limits and i used the cruise control whenever possible.

quite a difference between the two, I've now filled up on normal texaco - I will be able to use it as a reference.

I just hope John CS doesnt read this.........

I alway found V-Power to be much better than Ultimate - and usually cheaper too!

BP and other diesels feel punchier because their low end performance is poorer so you feel the turbo kicking in and making a noticeable surge.

V-Power diesel I have always found is a lot better performing where the turbo is not providing full boost, so you actually pull away without noticing turbo lag much.

I have been running mine on v-power almost exclusively for the last 12 months but had to fill up with normal diesel the other day and can I tell the difference?, oh yes, the same journey every almost every day and there are a few corners where I go round them as normal and find I'm at 1.5k with no power and have to drop down a gear. V- power I never needed to drop down a gear on these corners.

If that's from the onboard computer, well they aren't very accurate at the best of times. Only good way is a brim to brim tankful, and get the old fashioned calculator out.
    5 mpg difference... hmm.
I've found no benefit in using either of these personally. Zilch improvement after a lot of testing here.

    i wish i had a computer m8.......lol

    old fashioned for me thx.

fill up upto one click from first click, try to get the same pump on fill up, take the total amount of litres, divide it by 4.55, answer - gallons....

divide mileage by total number of gallons - answer - mpg.....

I'm using texaco normal atm and its reading 400miles and its on the line before half way....not too bad.
