Default Need 4 tyres for my 3.0 CDTi : Where to buy?

Need 4 new hoops for my 3.0 V6 CDTi 54 plate.

Anyone know if any of the "usual suspects" are doing good deals just now ( KwikFit, National etc ) ??.

Also, should I stick with the standard size or drop the profile to 45 and up the width to 225?.

Pro's and cons between standard size and lower profile if any?. I am sure I read on here someone reckoned that the lower profile makes the gap between the arch and tyre larger and looks a bit strange, is that correct?.

    Ta.

I wouldn't touch any of the main retailers at the moment
There are deals, but you can get better deals locally
If you really want to save money, order from camskills and find a local tyre fitter that charges about £8 per tyre to refit and balance

As a 54 reg 3.0 CDTI is that a saloon or estate?
    What's your budget?

Try www.etyres.co.uk as a benchmark as a good-ish price (but not the best) and try and beat it. It'll also show you the extra mark up that Kwik Fit slap on.

    Cheers guys.

It's a hatchback, not an estate.

I'm a lazy git though, would rather just drive in get em fitted and drive out again rather than ordering online, waiting for them to be delivered then finding somewhere to fit them.

I'll check some local independants and see what they can do for me.

Looking to spend as little as possible ( tight Scottish git ) but at the same time I dont want rubbish "Johhny Cougars" on there either.

So budget, around the £70-£80 a corner.

I assume you have 215/50/17 now?
If so, remember the "50" profile is expressed as a % of the tyre width
    i.e. 215 X 50% = 107.5 mm (tyre wall)

    For 225/45/17: -
    225 X 45% = 101 mm (tyre wall)

So, there'll be a 13 mm (half inch) overall smaller diameter if you change the tyre size to 225/45/17.
Totally acceptable, but some people may notice that extra gap to the wheel arch.

I've bought my last few tyres from blackcircles.com. No hassle at all. Takes about 5 mins to order them online - which is the hardest bit! All you hen need to do is drive down to your nominated tyre fitting place on the day you choose and they fit them. No fuss, no hassle, nothing to pay. Well recommended. Make sure you buy extra load tyres for the 3.0 though.

I swapped the tyres for 225/45 17" and had no problems at all. Knocks the speedo out around 2mph at 70mph, which I hve not found to be an issue. You have far more choice and they are cheaper. They are a recommend size tyre in the handbook too. I've fitted Toyos on mine and stick to the road like glue but dont last too long.

I bought 2 Toyo T1R's 225/45 17" at the end of June for £174. Thats with a discount code. Normal price is £182 for 2 but use the discount code:

    RANDS17

you get 5% off and get them for £174 fully fitted
