    Default M1 Luton Roadworks...

I go through the Roadworks twice a day going from Northampton to Watford... I was just wondering if anyone on here had been zapped by the average speed check camera's?

    I ask because....

Everytime I'm driving through the 50 MPH limit part, I set the cruise control to 50ish... Normally just over... YET at least 30% of the cars/vans/lorries that pass me fly by as if they are immune to speeding fines! DO these people know something I dont!!!??? Some have PL plates etc, so obviously dont care anyway... But what about all those Van and Lorry drivers who rely on having a licence to work??

    I'm confussed!

I saw this... It's from last year tho...

A few years ago when I used to read Pepipoo average speed cameras were put up on the M56 at Runcorn I did the same as you as in set the CC to 50 MPH and watched others maintaining 70 or more before braking for the last camera.

A few weeks later there was thread after thread about, "Just received an NIP for speeding on the M56 at Runcorn." So they are used.

Aproaching first cam,you could be doing 45 mph...speed up to 55 when you have past the cam..until your sat nav picks up the next cam...slow down to 45mph again..and your still averaging 50mph...which is what a lot of people do..but not me i hasten to add....as far as lorrys are concerned..most of them that plunder on @ 60, are the foreigners i'm affraid they know that the plod won't be posting them a letter..which is off course totally wrong..we are the easy catch..and will continue to be,unless the gov stops treating these truckers with kid gloves and start to get tough on em...lol not.

out of all those scameras there may only be one or two pairs working others will be decoys.

easiest way of telling is drive thru in the dark those with the red lights on are active.

I've seen Mercs and BMWs go through there about 90+ some nights. I reckon if you do the whole stretch like that you'll be caught somewhere along the line! Nottingham have them everywhere-and they get 1000s every week. They do work very well- just stay under limit +10% + 2mph and laugh at the others sailing by-they'll be caught soon- there's also a lot of plain clothes coppers down there and there is a reason for the limit!!! At least it's not 40 anymore!!

It just winds me up watching them all go past....

Today I had a good laugh at some kn*bber in a big Range Rover.... Came flying past, must of been 80mph+ and just seems to think that if he slams on his brakes at the camera's and does 45mph then speeds off back up to 80+ he's fine! LOL

I do the M1 Luton to the M25 regularly as well and use my cruise control set at 50mph according to my satnav. The amount of cars that pass me at least doing 60-70 and sometimes more is beyond belief. I always use the cruise control in roadworks as I would not want to be responsible for killing a worker whos trying to build us better roads!

All for the cameras in place like roadworks, just wished they would catch all the speeding drivers
Lois Griffin: Peter! You're bribing your daughter with a car?
Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?
