    Default Arnold Clark Customer Care.. What sweetners should i ask for?

    Basically, bought my new car, with a proviso it would be delivered, which it wasnt, i had to travel 3 hours to pick it up.

    Had it a week, and it broke down, to which i was told i would have to drive it 4 hours back up there ( i was an hour from home) with an engine that wouldnt work.

    Eventualyl towed by AA to a local arnold clark, to which i was told i could not have a lift to the train station, nor would they pay a taxi fare to get me there. They said they would pick my car up yesterday, and take it to the dundee branch, and they havent done.

    It is now being driven up there, using probably 1/3 of a tank of diesel.

    I have told them i need ther car for work, to which they said it would be ready for tommorrow, and would ring me today. I rung them today and they said they would ring me back, nothing. Rung again, and still nothing. So i am without my car and they wont get back to me, wont pay my aa costs to get me to a garage,wouldnt pay for a taxi, or give me al ift, on a sunday where there was no trains or buses, and now arent intouch with me about fixing my car!

    I am going to ring head office, and say i want something to keep me sweet otherwise i will go to the papers etc.

    I dont know what to ask for though, that i could realistically get, does anybody know what i could ask for? that i actually have a chance of getting? im thinking more warranty, rather than just one month?

    Is it a MotorStore or dealership?

    I doubt you'll get anything form Arnold Cack. They don't even like customers having test drives.

    By all means go to the press, but I think Arnold Cack are like another Ryanair! 5h1t doesn't stick to their blanket! (If you know what I mean!!!!!)

    I've never had any problems, in fact on my last request I got to test drive three almost identical models
    The main issue is that some of the cars are unprepped and been sitting for some time, and can quite often not start due to flat batteries!

    I'm surprised by Dundee being unresponsive
    However, post sales your first contact is always the sales person that dealt with you (once you are back home)
    This support is available for the month after purchase
    They should have made this quiet clear

    I usually go back to the original sales person twice
    Once after a fortnight and list any minor faults or issues
    Second after four weeks, relisting any of those faults or any new ones

    To me it sounds like the car was sold with no original warranty (possibly expired) and Arnold Clark basic cover
    I've never used it myself, but it look as worthless as a paper napkin for a front door!
    Again though, I suggest you go back to the original sales person and fully explain the experience and that you need reassuring that the car is of merchantable quality and will return to full reliability

    Tell them straight that under the sale of goods act you are rejecting the car as not fit for the purpose for which it was bought
