Default Cars back new engine fitted

well some of you know my cars been off the road since mid july i have had many new parts fitted but it would'nt rev just died & threw spanner light on. well they found the new fuel filter blocked immediately so they took fuel tank out & found a solified gluey substance in there & its contaminated the whole fuel system, pipes & engine.
Now just before it broke down i had filled up at Asda now wondering wether fuel was contaminated how do i find out if other ppl suffered this

yep glad to have car back because i complained so much about the length of time its been in they agreed to swap the engine rather than take it apart to see what was happening to save time. Its like a new car now with all the new shiny bits under bonnet
there going to let me know the cause of all these problems & test the substance that has gunked up the internals
