Default 3.0 CDTI fails to start

I've got a 07 3.0 cdti went to start her this morning to go to work, the starter motor just spins and nothing happens. There are no strange lights. I called out the rac they couldn't start her either said "theres no compression". I only drove her yesterday, no clues that she wouldn't start, just normal driving. Theres a third of a tank in her, battery is fine. I just don't know. I've just had her towed to my local dealers "w j kings" they're good guys. Its all under guarantee. Anyone any guesses what it might be?

    I'd go for a gremlin
More chances of the dealership diagnosing that then a fault correctly with this engine, as very few dealership see them!

Was the glow plug light coming on?

If so and the starter motor is running, then I'd go for a fuel problem

The glow plug light comes up and goes off like normal.
    The starter motor ran.
The dealers called within 3 hours of getting my car and told me its a throttle valve. They've fitted me in same day to. Like I said they're good guys.
Now I think I've read here of other problems with throttle valves? Don't they have to come from germany or something coz of a shortage? I'm praying I won't have to wait weeks for the part. I'll post how this turns out.

Interesting just checking and the 3.0 V6 CDTI doesn't have a throttle valve
Perhaps they use that name for the part, but that's definitely not its real name!
Possibly confused with the fuel rail regulator or the inlet valve on the fuel pump
If it's the latter, then that looks a nightmare to change as well as probably a replacement fuel pump being the only solution

The Facelift V6 CDTIs do seem to be prone to dodgy high pressure CR pumps!

I got my car back yesterday fixed.
Its a facelift v6 3.0 diesel vectra under a year old, starter motor span, no unusual lights but just wouldn't start.
For anyone intersted it was a stuck air intake butterfly valve which is used to close off air intake when stopping the engine as diesels would run on a bit without it. Well it stuck shut, so no air intake, so no ignition. The new part came from Germany took a week. It was under guarantee so just inconvenient, I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem so I thought I'd mention it. I might not have got the part names correct but thats how it was explained to me. I don't think its infectious buty hope no one else gets it.
