Thumbs up Unmarked Police Car - A50 Derby - well done plod!

Well this made my day today.

Spotted a new 08 reg black V6 Turbo Vectra, sitting on the slip road out of Toyota on the A50, whilst driving back from Manchester this afternoon, rear lights were winking on and off quite quickly, thought was abit odd broken indicators maybe, but couldn't see anything else, no other cars around etc, so didn't really think much more of it.

Bit further down the road, I notice same car is just passing me, and is an unmarked police car, with single PC, with black vest, white shirt driving.

Things that give it away are single small aerial in middle of roof, blacked out windows in rear (it's a 5 door hatch), no badges but V6Turbo on rear, and assorted things stuck to the windscreen. You can't see the lights in the front or rear.

Anyways, I pull out to pass a slow moving crane at a sliproad, just as a Transit CityLink Parcel delivery van comes down, moves straight out into the road and almost right into the side of me! He then sits on my bumper as we pass a few trucks, before almost driving up the central reservation as I move back over. I grimace and wonder where the police car is when I need it.

I spot it up front tailing a Mercedes and a Porsche, but Van Man doesn't know and hairs off up the road!! Just as I think the unmarked Veccy is about to turn off to Derby, VanMan screams by at what must have been 90mph plus and with that Vectra changes his mind and zooms off in pursuit towards M1. VanMan gets slowed up by other cars and then decides to do a bit of weaving, almost decding to do a bit of undertaking, before finally getting away again, at this point they are away in front and I thought he had gotten away, but.....

No he got him at the Donington turn off. Absosutely made my day. Finally a police car about WHEN I want one. What a T%&T VanMan was and deserves everything he got. Well done that man.

BTW, lights on Veccy are two small blue ones tucked in top of rear window, plus rear lights/fogs flash intermittently. You can't see them, until he lights up, you have been warned.

excellent, glad the idiot got pulled! - hate tailgaters. must say parts of the A50 are terrible (road surface) looks like solid concrete in patches!? I have been known to put my foot down on that road, but only when I cant see anyone else on the road..

I think the A50 is a great road, apart from as mentioned above, the surface for quite some miles is made of concrete slabs with some sort of black tar/rubber grout in between them????
They make an awful noise as you drive along the road, not to mention the constant bump-bump-bump as you drive over the joins in the slabs.....
But, as I say, it's a great road which does away with a lot of the messing on the motorway when I'm visiting my sister in Derbyshire....it does get a bit repetative, and only has one or two landmarks.... JCB World Parts Centre, Toyota, etc...
Must admit too, to sometimes letting the right foot down a bit.....

Agree about the repetative bit. Don't know what it is but I find myself looking down at the miles travelled along that road more than any other. Always happy to get to the end and back onto the M6.

Seems to always feature in the Traffic reports too.

Know exactly what you mean from where i turn off the M6 at J15, it's only about 30-odd miles to where she lives in Heanor, but it seems to go on and on and on.......thats why I split the journey into landmarks, First one is Stoke City's ground, Then the JCB Factory, then toyota.........sad eh?

Are you sure the cop car didn't have LED lights in the sides of the front bumper? That's the usual giveaway here down south.

And A50? I'd get a nosebleed being that far north... lol

It's good run on the A50, I use it alot to go over to Leicester ! it's mega boring though. Have seen quite a few unmarked cars over the years, including Volvo's and Honda Accords !
