    Default opc maps have a 3 and been offered more

    i need some info and feedback

    at the moment iv got a stage 3 opc map and iv now been offered to have the stage 4 part of the multimap ecu config

    my stage one is """167 bhp and 240 blft at stage 1"" going to ""221 bhp and 353 blft at stage 3""



    now they have a stage 4 for me 240bhp and around 350 blft but holding the torque in for longer will gain the extra bhp

    i know there is a limit to where i can get the maps to but now it's got to be getting dame close,

    i always had the plan to get to 240bhp and it seams to be getting there but do i as the stage 3 is mad as hell anyway and this is all without my water injection on .
    on my stage 3 will make 120mph in the low 20's sec

    so do i stop

    Questions:

    1.How much will/is it costing,sometimes the best way to get more performance is to buy a faster car.

    2.You said that you can only go up in stages with the maps,does this mean that you have to buy each one seperately before you can move on to the next? I don't understand why you can't just put '4' on straight away.

    Just for comparison I recently sold a 'hack' Honda CB500 for £350,it would also reach 120 in a lot less than 20 seconds.

    all the maps are in my ecu ready to run the car,, maps 1,2 and 3 the maps are selectable as im driving the car .
    maps 1 and 2 have big gains over a standard map and now smoke at map 2.5 there is a littel smoke but 3 has smoke due to fueling

    and yes you could go right to map 4 and have the car at full power but the car would always smoke and thats not what you really want when you could run on a lesser map with no smoke

    there is 1 other member on the club that is useing my stage 2 map and thats """ harry from liverpool """ im shore he can comment on how good the maps are

    Is another 19/20 bhp worth killing your engine for . I'm quite sure it would already have weakened with the current 220 bhp.
    I'd love to see you achieve the 240 bhp but i feel it not worth it.

    i think you could be right mark i could back the map down and add the Water/Methanol Injection System it's all fitted but iv never used it .

    i'd beware of the methanol... it is a solvent after all and excessive use can cause bore washing...which is worse than overboosting the map...

    if i had to make a choice between the two ( methanol or bigger map ) i'd go for the map rather than the solvent..

    i think the effects of running on methanol and a large map are well proven now... the engines aren't just up for that kind of use...

    Why kill it just to get an extra few horse?....If you want more power than the CDti can reliably give, swap it in for 2.8T..
