Default timing belt and water pump

    hi
just rang local vauxhall for timing belt and water pump to be changed
    and HOW MUCH £483.
I was expecting about £250 -£300 as parts are only just over £100.
Is this about the right price or are they trying to steal my money.
Now i can see why they are called stealers.

Go to a good independant garage & you will be paying nearer the £250 -£300
Unless it's paramount you use the dealers !!

They are taking the pi$$. Z18XE should be £250 from a dealer, thats what I paid for my old astra! My V6 CDTi is less than they want for your 1.8!!!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    yep that what i thought
when i got up of the froor i rang local garages and all are about £250
i just dont believe they are making about £400 profit on this.
so got it booked in to a local indipendent garage and saved myself £230.
i dont mind paying loads of £££ but dont like to be ripped off when parts are only £100

    ^^ what Rich said....

you're paying for the shiney showroom, the tea girl and the 'service advisor' at your VXdealer.. Service and parts are where they make their money ( and lots of it),,
