In a word.. Not a lot of good really..

If AD could do them for breach of trademark then they should..

The genuine TECH2 is over £4K to buy..all that will let you do is access the engine ECU to turn off the EML...

It's a cheap Xmas cracker toy i'm afraid..

some on ebay are actually quite good. depending on the age of your car you may need a can/bus reader. when mine is out of warranty I will buy one of these. (£30 at the stealers to read a code - for around that price I can have one to keep - I would love one in my xmas cracker!)

I have heard that OBDII have the same codes for most makes, so for example error 164 would be the same fault on a VW/Ford/Vx can anyone confirm this ?

OBDII is a standard coding.. however it WILL have to be CAN compatible whatever reader you buy..

make it nearer £90 and buy a GENDAN one..not too bad for a handheld..

have not heard of gendan, will look at them, but I know I can get a "standard" code reader for half that price, after all we just need to know the code(s) in the event of a problem...I would really like the VX equivalent of vag-com, is there one ?

they don't ever diagnose problems.. they only give fault codes..

Diagnosing the fault is a learning process of knowing what causes these fault codes to appear and why and which to ignore because they are caused by another fault etc etc.. Code readers never give the EXACT picture.. that comes with experience.. too often folks 'chase codes' and it leads them off wrong..
