Front Wiper loose?! how? why?

My wife came home to the news that one of the wiper blades ( driver side ) was missing,.....great I thought some petty vandal with nothing better to do...etc, then I thought ugh she has been driving with the metal arm rubbing the windscreen!
When I went out to look it had come off the arm somehow, and was under the lip bonnet. When I tried to put it back on it was very loose as though the clip was worn, or the end of the arm had opened?
Can you buy the "j" clips or do you have to buy the whole replacement wiper?
I have it secured with an elstic band at the moment , until tomorrow when I can swap it with the clip off the passenger side to prove it one way or the other.

Any ideas?

you have to buy the complete wiper blade unfortunatly....they just don't sell the clips seperatley

Are anyone elses loose?, its only just over 2 years old, must have been vandalism?

2 yrs is a fair life for a a wiper blade anyhow...

it must have either cracked or been snapped..

Thats the thing, it isnt cracked or snapped, thats why I am stumped, maybe the end of the arm has opened? maybe when someone yanked it off?

the end of the arm should be parallel.. if it's opened into a vee then it's been bent..

WELL, SOMETHING ODD HERE. tOOK THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER OFF , AND THE CLIP IS TOTTALY DIFFERENT???THEN CHECKED THE WIPER BLADE, AND IT SEEMS THAT i NOW HAVE TWO BLADES THE SAME SIZE? sOME TOERAG HAS PINCHED MY WIPER AND LEFT A SMALLER ONE.
OOPS, sorry about the caps.....so ****** angry!!!
