    Default signum exhaust

    hiya all,

Here goes for my first post.

Took my 04 signum 2.2 petrol down to masterfit yesterday, as its been making some funny knocking noises from underneath for a few days.

And the exhaust has broke both the front mounts and is swinging loose.

Mechanic goes ouch.....hmmm parts man says £881 please.....

Not to mention that the mechanic also says, hmmm these brakes need replacing and oh.. this shocker is leaking.....

    All this after 20k....anyway.

I love my signum...and dont really want to change it....but i think 1k for a exhaust is steep.

So i've looked on the wonderful web and yes there are stainless ones....but mostly for the 2.2 vectra.

So my question is if i get a 2.2 vectra dual branch exit....would it fit the signum 2.2.

Looking at my dads 2.2 vectra...the exhaust are totally different at the rear...The signum has the middle pipe going straight into one of the back boxes..where the vectra has two seperate boxes with a Y piece.

Anyone know if it will fit or advise something to help

    cheers all

    scott R

Get a custom stainless one made from MIJ, Longlife exhausts, Powerflo etc. There is bound to be one in your area.

As for the shocks and brakes, Thats typical masterfit for you. How many miles has the car done on total? just 20k?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Mate - you should be able to get the basic exhaust loads cheaper from somewhere like dorset autospares. Cat - back on my z22se VECCY cost me just over £100. Alternatively powerflow exhausts in basingstoke do custom exhausts with lifetime guarantees, i reckon they would do one for you for about 500-600 quid (unfortunately i Dont have any phone numbers or links for either, but search the web & it should be easy enough - good luck!

Vectra saloon/hatch and Signum exhausts are totally different. There are 2 twin exit Signum ones on E-bay at the moment

    One is HERE

    ...and the other one HERE

Or a single outlet one HERE

If you have a 2.2 petrol on an '04 plate it should be a Direct engine and have twin exhausts

so the rear boxes on your signum are ok then ??? and they want £881 to replace the front mounts

those rear boxes Tony found for buy it now £150 is a good price for nearly new ......but that still doesn't resolve the broken front mounts does it ??

    hiya,

Thanks for the replies....gonna ring around this week and see what my options are.

Yes when the car was on the ramps...he also noticed a hole appearing where the centre pipe meets the backbox.

So its gonna fall off soon anyway...just no telling when.

Just been wondering how much trade price would be on a standard system...

As the parts man at my local vauxhall dealer...was a bit unhelpful...and wouldnt tell me....

I notice the jetex system...and would prefer this over the expensive vauxhall one...but its my insurance company that might object.

    cheers

Get yourself a decent stainless system fitted m8. It souldn't affect your insurance as long as you tell them.
Cat back system will be around £350 ish but as you need a bit of the front sorting it should not be anywhere near the £1k that Vx want

Or alternatively, if you don't want to go down the route of having a stainless exhaust made up, take it to any local exhaust place and they'll replace the bits that need doing for a couple of hundred quid... Centre sections always seem to be expensive considering it's a straight piece of pipe!
