    Default Giant African Land Snail

Just wondering if anyone keeps them. My daughter has been offered one by my sister in law and was wondering how easy are they to keep and some general advice about them really.

Ive got 1, its bleeding huge too, had for a couple of years now, just make sure you dont put 2 in the same enclosure, they make rabbits look impotant

dead easy to care for, chunk of cucumber or lettuce, piece of cuttle fish, spray with water once in a while and there happy as can be

Cheers guys. My SIL offered us 2, but reading up on them it says they can lay upto 1200 eggs

So think we will just get the one. What size tank have you got for it? Is it plastic or glass?

originaly i used bark chippings, but they eventually rotted away, i then tried a small piece of turf which he seemed to like, but then that went manky, so now hes just in bare plastic, and he doesnt seem to fussed, spends most of his time crawling around the lid anyway.

they also love beer, dip your finger in a glass of beer and let the snail lick it off your finger,

you might also notice if you handle the snail quite a bit that it can get a white cyst on its neck, nothing to worry about, just the snail showing you that it likes you a bit too much and might produce unfertilized eggs
