Mine threw up a fault a little while ago, there was nothing obvious wrong with the car so I disconnected the battery for 20 mins and when I turned the ignition on after re-connecting the light didn't come on - job done

dont know about radio code but it justs reset the computer and you will have to reset the electric windows so they go automatically up and down without leaving your finger on the button and thats it unless the radio does need the code to be put back in!! but i would disconnect the battery for a bit then connect it its easy to put things right and will save you £45

£45 to plug a cable in and clear codes...must be a stealer.

I thought the radio settings depended on whether it has full CAN bus or not. Anyway mine never lost it's radio settings. Take it to a local garage that can do the MOT who does servicing as well and ask them nicely to reset the light.

If you have thumbwheels and button controls on your steering then you have full CANBUS capability. I have full CANBUS on my car and never need radio code after battery disconnection. By disconnecting the battery for a period of time, if the fault is no longer present, you will still see the spanner light until engine fires at which time it will go out (this is a note that a recent fault has occurred). If fault does not re-appear within the next month of normal driving, the spanner light will dissapear altogether. If however, the fault re-appears the spanner will be back. My advice, suck it and see, it may never return (like mines did in Feb this year, never seen it again and that was 6k miles ago)
