Default Fitting Sony Head Unit in place of Factory CD30

    Hello,

I have a September 2005 Vectra SRI and I'm just in the process of swapping the CD30 Factory unit for a Sony Head Unit. I bought the Facia Plate and Loom adaptor from Vauxhall and went out to fit it this afternoon.
I have got as far as removing the Factory unit and Cage but following the Vauxhall Guide, there appears to be a page missing where it looks like I have to remove the Cigarette Lighter and attach some wires. Can anybody help on how to get at this without destroying any of the facia. I had a poke around but it seemed a bit flimsy.

Also does the supplied Vauxhall Adaptor fit straight with the Plug output on the Sony Unit. It looked like some wires (when plugged together) would not match up with each.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm new to this site, so something like this may have been covered already. Is there a how to somewhere showing the change for the head unit??

You might need a loom adaptor for the stereo inputs and outputs too mate.

I don't know about the audio looms/adapters side of things for the C, but this PDF will show you how to remove your cig lighter.

I fitted a Sony head unit into my 2003 vec sxi. The harness that came with my facia adapter fits between the car harness and the head unit harness. It converts the big single vehicle plug down to individual pugs for power, speakers, etc.
I now no longer need the adapter harness due to fitting a CONNECTS2 control box.
This allows me to use steering wheel controls and puts track info onto vehicle display.
I believe this only works with the older button type steering wheel controls.

The reason the vauxhall guide says to go to cig lighter is to get an ignition source so radio go's off with ignition as the cd30 unit use the can-bus to tell it the ign state and most after market head units cannot read the can-bus signals , some vectras have a phone loom to right behind glove box which has another ign source, not all vectras have this most from germany do most uk don't
to tell if german or uk open drivers door and look at sticker on b-pillar if it says vauxhall then it is uk if it says opel then it was built in germany mine is german and has loom
