So yesterday I stripped the X30XE down to replace the cam cover gaskets as I noticed oil was seeping. After finally getting to the cam cover (those who know the 3.0ltr engine will know what I mean) I can see that the previous owner had used the incorrect gasket sealant and had tightened the cover way more than the important 8nm or torque - anyway...

Whipped it off and started cleaning all the mating faces then something suddenly struck me... Yep, please feel free to let me know if you think I had some luck!!

Circle tightened them all to 8nm, there were a few that we loose however this one was the worst!!

Omega? Always use the black Vx sealant for that job.

Yea, that's an engine that makes you long for the simplicity of 4 cylinders...lol... and even more so if they're transversely mounted!

Simplicity? Forgotten what that is

Yep, breathers all sound right through the plenum in the canister - my tips fo this job is to use genuine parts, clean all the mating faces and use the proper sealant or you will be getting dirty pretty quick!!

The cams are in perfect condition, cannot see any wear at all and the cars on 132k...

hehe, sucks right! Makes me want to pull the passenger side cylinder bank apart again however that one is a really big pain in the arse!!

Will just keep my ears open for the rattle
