    Default Crapnology

Technology of the PC brigade, a friend has recently purchased a Pug 407, this car features eco mode eco mode is after you turn the engine off according to the book you have 30 mins of power to the radio, interior lights and another 4 or 5 things, great wassup with that I hear? well, unless you have just come 200 miles down the M1 the radio and lights shut off after about 3 minutes and won't stay on again until the battery feels it's safe to do so anyway, here comes part 2 of his predicament, he contacts the supplying broker, a cab specialist one and they send their man down to see what the problem is, now here's the killer, he is then offered 10k for a car with 200 miles on the clock that he gave 13k for 6 days ago, anyone know if he has rights on this, as he bought it blind and I would think that he should have a 28 days cooling off period if he finds the car is not suitable for his needs.

BTW, he's now wishing he'd stayed with Skoda and had a newer style Octavia, but didn't realise Skoda had made the Octy's a lot bigger inside with the A5 version.

in all the 407's i've had the eco mode doesnt effect the lights. When the eco mode kicks in it just shuts off the stereo and interior lights until you turn the key and start the engine. It should then revert back to normal power straight away. My 307 has the eco mode aswell. Does it have warranty??

It's the interior lights Neil, he says that it doesn't stay on for long, and even after turning the engine on and off it will either not work or go out after a few minutes.

I'll give you the ugly bit, but as for values you are well out of touch, if you Autotrader a bit you will see an Octavia is as expensive S/H as a Passat is if not 500 notes more some times, and as for quality feel on things like the stalks and buttons though it pains me to say it, it makes the Vectra's seem like a 50p squirt gun.

He wanted to reject a car because the interior light didn't stay on long enough!!

Hasn't he thought of reaching the couple of feet and selecting 'on'.

Sorry didn't mean to rant. Remember feel of the switches is a deceptive thing. My Dad used to design automotive electronics, he would look at the number of operations that the switches are tested to etc.

Personally my only thing about Skodas is I feel that everyone who buys one just wants a vDUB but doesn't wanna pay for one.... I'd rather have a lower model or something and get the real thing...

    I can't agree with this.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of any of the interior fitments on the Vectra C and that's compared with VW, Volvo, Ford, MB, Toyota and Land Rover IME.
