Default I'm back from Majorca! (Loads of pics too).

Ola guys and girls, we are back from an absolutely fantastic week in Mallorca. Stayed in Porto Colom, a quiet resort and fishing village on the East coast. The weather was amazing, in the 30's everyday, and some days it was just too hot to sit in the sun. (Uno Cerverza por favor)!!!!

We flew out form Gatwick last Tuesday and luckily, my new Nikon D50 camera arrived on the Monday, hence the amount of pictures, including some 'arty' shots too! Sadly, after taking loads of cards with me, i only spotted one Vectra, and that was from my 3rd floor balcony one day, but when i got downstairs with card and camera in hand it had gone! Nice looking one though; grey facelift SRi, debadged, tints, alloy bee-sting and red painted calipers. There was a lovely white Astra buzzing round the village and did manage to get some pics of that.

So here are some pics. Well impressed with the quality of the photos from the Nikon and i'll try and explain them as i go.

This is the view from our apartment balcony overlooking the local beach. The first pic is looking out to sea then moving left inland over the beach and up to the hills.

This is a view up and down the small street which ran behind our apartment. Just over the road was a 'Boardwalk' kind of affair with loads of restaurants then down onto the beach.

I found it very hard to sleep over there due to the heat. If you left the door open all you heard were damn mopeds and scooters buzzing around at all hours and if you closed the doors and put the air-con on, you either froze, or woke up with a mouth and throat as dry as Ghandi's flip-flops!

So most mornings i was up quite early, and on this particular morning, at around 6, this is the view out to sea that i was greeted with. Truly amazing!

And this was the view in the evening as the sun was setting over the hills!

These pictures were taking from the other side of the beach, looking back towards our apartment which i've circled in red. I've never seen such a blue sea.

On Saturday, all the locals came to the beach, most of them arriving by boat or yacht. Now is that the life or what?

A couple of things made me chuckle. First was this cigarette machine in a small coffee shop that was not working, and then there was the names of the Vodka in the local SPAR supermarket. I'm sure you can work out what i was reading!!!!!!!

Next are pictures of Porto Colom itself as we were staying on the outskirts. It was about a half hour walk and the main reason for our 3 trips there was to the Tobbaconists as none of the shops, pubs or restaurants were allowed to sell them. First trip was to find it and check out the prices, (We were told that it was next to a Petrol Station, wait till you see it)! The second was to actually buy some stuff only to find it was closed, and the third was to finally buy some tobacco when it was open. And to give you an idea of the prices, a 50gram pouch of Golden Virginia over here is about £11. I bought 30 50gram pouches of 'Domingo' which is basically Spains version of Drum..........................£46 for all 30!

    This is the harbour.

We had trouble locating the Petrol Station and it wasn't until Michelle said she could smell petrol that we found it..............................and this is why!!!!

A few shots of Porto Colom.

This is my favourite shot. All the old boys having a drink in the morning. Fantastic.

As well as the main Spainish Police, the 'Guardia Civil', we also had our own local police. You could see them coming before you heard the sirens!!!!!

And this is the Astra i mentioned. Very nice sublte mods.

And that is Porto Colom in Majorca folks. I highly recommend it as you've got fantastic weather and it's only a 2 hour flight from the UK. It takes me longer than that to drive to Swansea!!!!!

And i'm browner than a brown thing and got the white bits to prove it.
As always with holidays though, depression sets in when your finally at the airport to come back home, but this cheered me up. It's where all the food stalls are located at the airport.

Hope you enjoyed and apologies for the size of the post.

    Paul.

    Bl00dy awesome my friend.

Had a right deal from a shop on ebay. Got the camera in it's original box with a 28-80mm lens, all the leads, CD's, brand new 2gb memory card, most of the leads and even the neck strap were brand new and unused plus an original Nikon 70-300mm zoom lens in it's original box, all for £300!

    A very happy chap indeed.
