    Default traction control

anyone got a 2005 on cdti150 sri and fitted traction control button?
AJA has a 2004 all he did was fit the switch and now he can turn traction off but his is the older one without interior can-bus but on my 2005 with the interior can-bus system fitting the switch does nothing
I tried the vauxhall dealer but they are neither use nor ornament after years of good service from honda dealers ,vauxhall dealers are dissapointing
Has anyone enabled the system so the switch will work?

    Wink

Call me stupid, but surely on your 05 vec cdti all they would need to do would "Tech-2" it..
maybe im wrong, i know they are cuttin down on the "extras" so that they can charge people more for them to be put onto your vehicle..
Sorry i can't help with any more info.

I asked them to plug the tech2 into my car while i watched but they would not saying i would have to wait 2 hours before theycan look at it
Anyway they said they had plugged the tech2 in and the traction button should work , they don't know why it dosn't and they will need the car for 2 days to find out why
They don't seem to be that clued up at my local dealers

    Vehicle : Vauxhall

    Trim : very

    Engine : Z19DTH

    Year : Nosey

Default I did the same mate

Had better service than you though, they spent half an hour with the Tech two and looking at the system but didn't get it to work. Didn't charge me for that either.

I rang Vauxhall customer care and they were quite happy to tell me the didn't know anything; whether it would work if I just put it in; whether it could be reprogramed; whether their IQ was based on the number of windows they could open on their desktop in the call centre...

So I just left it in cos it looks nice...ish. Still lights up but just doesn't do anything.

There are many threads about the traction control... But to sum it up it seems that it works on some car,s but not on others, as yet it seems to be the luck of the draw.....

The question I have is, how can you tell when it is off. The reason I ask is, I've had my car for 3 weeks and have thrown it about on private ground to find that the car wallowed a bit (comparing this to an MG ZT with sports suspension) and the little green triangle did not flash at all. This makes me think that mine may already be off or I'm a wimp and not pushing it hard enough

Trophyblue. If the light on the dashboard is on.. even momenteliry then the wheels are spinning, so if the light is on all the time "ie" when you press the "tc" switch then the "tc" is dissabled. mine is a 3.2 it takes quite a bit to make the light come on in the dry , but in the wet it is not too difficult.Sorry to say it looks like you are a whimp, when the road is either wet or damp take off like your ar55e is on fire, that should make the light come on, I dare say Duncan will be able to say more how a 20t goes as he has one amonst many other members.
Ps I take it you have the "TC" switch on your car...

trophyblue on mine as soon as i get wheel spin the light starts flashing on the dash inbetween speedo and tacho at the bottom you know its working cause it cuts your power to nothing , if i go round a roundabout wet or dry and give it full throttle you feel the power cutting in and out
A few of my work mates have the same car as me sri 1.9cdti 150 and the 2004 models seem to allow the switch to work but the later 2005 do not(they swapped on a 54 plate to interior can bus, you can tell because the chrome trim below windows also dissapeared
wondered if this can-bus diagnostic tool would work

The TC light on mine is orange and looks like a car on wavie skis. No hard to get it on either, just put my foot down at 2000-2500 revs in 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

The TC button only disables the TC upto 40mph.
