Default Hi to all - problem with broken rear spring.

First of all, hi to everyone, i'm joined recently but never got round to saying hello (sorry).
I removed the rear brake pads on my 04 1.9cdti sxi at the weekend to clean them & de glaze them to stop them squeeling, & i noticed one of the springs has snapped (last coil). I was wondering if it's best to go buy the replacement springs from the stealers or will a decent set from a motor factors be as good. also has anyone got a rough idea how much they are ??

P.s. great website & forums, keep up the good work.

You had a single spring replaced? Should be done in pairs ideally.

yeah i agree i had to replace both of mine, well didnt have to , but as you say it better to replace both at same time. I think it something to do with runjing with 1 worn and 1 new spring put out of balance .i think .
