    Angry THIEVING B********s!!!!

I've been flying to Scotland and back a lot lately on business. When I get there I always hire a car. This time it was with National. The car was a god awful Skoda Octavia.

Anyway, I've just had a letter off them saying they have deducted £50 from my credit card due to damage to the vehicle on return. So I scrolled down the sheet to see what the damage was and guess what?..... Missing oil cap! WTF?!!!!!! I never even opened the bonnet! Anyone know how I stand on this? I've never even had a hire company check under the bonnet on return and it certainly isn't shown on the damage sheet when you pick it up.

I've tried to phone them but they're out of hours now, but there is no way I am paying this

Can't see it myself, it's your responsibility to drive it and make sure it doesn't return full of dents, levels are their's to check before delivery, strong call/letter required I think, last person to check it couldn't have replaced it properly, either way it's not your fault.

I've just sent them this email:

recently hired a car from you at Glasgow Airport. Rental Agreement Number: 516FO4691. Car Reg: AA08HZY.

I have received a letter off of yourselves today saying you have charged my credit card £50 for damage incurred whilst I had it. So I check down to see what this so called damage was. It turns out it is a missing oil cap! Are you for real! I never once even opened the bonnet let along touched, removed or lost the oil cap and NO ONE from National checked under the bonnet of the car on pick up or drop off. There is also no section in the damage agreement you sign when you pick the car up that covers under the bonnet.

How dare you have the gall to charge me £50 to replace an item under the bonnet where I had no need or no right to be.

I demand an instant response from yourselves on this and also the FULL AND COMPLETE AND INSTANT refund of my money to my card or I will be taking this to trading standards and using my connections to local radio to make sure that the disgusting service from National is brought to the public eye.

I await your speedy response on this. A satisfactory response I hope as I'm sure that you do not want to lose customers in this way

    Regards

    Matthew Hewlett

My boss got charged for petrol from National. Luckily it was on business and he kept the reciept. This showed he filled up with petrol next to the airport and he returned the car minutes later. The petrol he was being charged was about 1/2 a tank but he only did 105 miles. The distance on the bill showed him only doing 105 miles and the petrol receipt would indicate he only covered about 100 miles too. He got the money back after a couple of calls.

    £50...expensive oil cap. Good luck!

Surely if the cap was missing then an amount of oil should have spilled out? What a bloomin cheek!

sounds like a scam, i wonder how many others they have charged the same thing ??

Would make a good undercover TV story, scams of hire car companies, loads of them at it.

You need to get on to your credit card company and ask them to reverse the transaction and apply for an investigation into the wrongful charge. The credit card company should be able to handle this issue for you.
