    does anyone have an idea as to what this part is, my mate has a vec b 2.0 sri v reg and found this part loose under the engine cover?? the left hand side where the numbers 123 are has a 3 pin elec connection. thanks....

    Could be a knock sensor.

    Get the part number off of it and ring VX parts, they should know what it is with that info, sorry I can't help anymore than that, it's one of those abstract parts that gets buried among others.

    p.s look away from the engine, the chrome doesn't look like it's been near heat, at a guess it could be a washer level sensor or similar.

    Are you sure? I would think the ecu would shut down if that was missing.

    i have'nt a clue but the car seems to be ok as he drove to work+back and never said it was crook??.

    ok you guys as usuall your SPOT ON AGAIN!! after chris's comment had a look+typed camshaft sensor on flee bay and need i say any more?? thanks chris+andy i'll give him the news guess its a single small bolt holding it on, should it be easy to put back on?.... thanks again..

    it's retained by the top camshaft cover stud...so if it's not there find it before it digs into the cambelt and causes more havoc....

    its probably an old one thats been left in the engine bay
    as if it wasnt connected the eml light would be on
