    Default Vosa

A guy who works for VOSA followed me home last night and gave me a warning about my window tints on the front side windows. Ive got to get them removed otherwise ill be gettin a ticket etc etc.

Just booked the car in to have it done tomorrow, costin me £45. The guy at the tinting place told me its an easy job to do DIY, the film just peels off in one piece then warm soapy water will fetch the glue off, but i aint got time and id rather have it done by professionals, saves encountin any problems.

The guy was also sayin that the VOSA are worse than the police for window tints, alot of police forces will except light tints, but not the VOSA. They will be keepin my details on their database now, and if i get caught with the tints on the car in the next 3 years they will go to town.

Visited my mother the other day and there was one there pulled over waiting to pounce, i think most people in a uniform just weren't good enough to join the police

From what I understand they legally have no power to stop or follow you unless the police are with them the only time they can enforce things like window tints with out the police being there is when you take your car for an MOT.

are't the front windows on the vecs already tinted to the maximum allowed level any way, so anything added would make them to dark, Still a bit naughty following you home, I wouldn't stop unless it was a marked police car

I would have to agree with that sentiment, VOSA officers should NOT be performing duties without a Police Officer present
I hope you asked for ID, took a note of the officers name, and vehicle registration; I would report the matter

Even if the officer "told you to" it is only a request; not an order, not a record, not an event

Even a basic VDRF should have been issued

Reminds me of an Police Officer that asked me to move my Tax Disc as it wasn't in the bottom right hand corner, and I refused as that requirement was removed in 1976
Went on, and on, and on, "You MUST move it"
Nah, reported the officer and got a written confirmation that the officer was in the wrong

VOSA do have the power to pull u over but it must be in a marked VOSA vehicle and can also ticket u for any fault on the vehicle.

I'd seek proper advice myself, like take it to the police and ask them if they consider it illegal, and get it in writing if they give it an ok.
