    Default Vectra VXR re-map

    Hi Folks,

Although I don't post much I thought I would let you folks know about the recent remap for the vectra VXR

O.K I don't work for Courtenays Sport but they have completed 99% of my car tuning in the past. So the week before last they released their Vectra VXR re-map and therefore I went knocking on their door!!!

No sooner had I go the car into the RR bay than we started to check the base line figures.

Some brief details to start with.

Vectra VXR 255, standard exhaust with 100 Cell replacement main CAT, coupled to a lower final drive gearbox. K&N filter, AP Brakes with rear EBC pads, mated onto std grooved disks. Also a set of Eibachs.

    Rolling road tested:

    Standard
    252bhp @5600rpm
    262 Lbft

Ambient air temp = 27 degress
Air intake temps = 51 (Full load)
Max water temp 96 degress (infomat system)

After a short period of time the new map was loaded to the car. The map had been tailored to my car but a couple of adjustment were made and a second map was loaded. The purpose of the second map was to remove the dreaded drop off of power and to maintain it to the red line.

    Remap

    300bhp@4850 + 47

    414 Lbft @ 3250

Ambient air temp = 32 degress
Air intake temp = 51 degress (full load)
Max water temp 96 degress (Infomat system)

Max BHP gain mid range, over standard 100PS@3750rpm

As a rough guide, Performance is:

    50-70 in 3rd 2.02 secs
    50-70 in 5th 3.87 secs
    50-70 in 6th 5.37 secs

These are only my figures but still represent a 20mph increase so wether it starts at 50,51, or 52 as long as it end 20mph later that is a good indication.

(Oh by the way thats quicker than Std VXR8 and Lotus Carlton - source Performance car)

Overall fuel consulption, 30.7 cvoerd over 74.3 miles consisting of town, twisty country roads, B roads and small amout of dual cariageway.

Hope you enjoy this initial details and if no one objects I will post a full road report very soon.

I should imagine it's pretty tricky to keep the front end under control under hard acceleration?

Not as bad as you would think actually. The car does cope better with the Sport but on . Had a torque steer out of 4th and third does twitch a tad.

The Goodyear F1 asym really do dig in hard, and yes they are not exactly happy bunnies any longer, I can feel the rubber being left behind.

Wot is good is the wet, but more about that later...................................

Just looking at your original figures... I would have expected the sports cat to make more of a difference?

Regardless, excellent results, it must be a beast!
