    Default Aircon Recirculation Servo

Ok, the clicking servo has finally driven me mad enough to finally take a look at the problem and it turns out to be the recirc servo (top left bolted directly to the fan unit). It just had to be the one that looks the most difficult to remove.

What's happening is it's opening and closing the flap fine, it's just the thing doesn't know when to stop so it's overrunning with each open/close operation. Question is, what controls when it stops? Is it some kind of limit switch or electronically controlled by some other means?

We're off on our hols on Sunday so I guess I've left it a bit late for any professional help (something the missus keeps telling me I need, but that's a whole other story ) so if anyone has a quick fix, like hit it with a hammer or douse it in WD40, I'd be very grateful.

either disconnect it, or change the servo unit...the only real way to cure it..

There is no limit switches etc, the motor inside is shut down when it reaches the end of it's travel by the body controller (I guess it monitors current draw)

The part is about £60 from VX, or you could get a scrapyard special. They are not the easiest to remove. Do as mark say's, set the re-circ to fresh air and then disconnect the electrical plug.

I removed mine about a year ago, cos it's bust, tied up the actual flap on top of the blower motor assembly, and I really do need to replace it.....

OK, thanks for the advice, I'll unplug it until I can get around to replacing it.

On a side note, while I was removing the glovebox I realised it actually does have a light in there, it's not worked since I got the car so I wrongly assumed it just didn't have one. It looks like the heat from the bulb has melted the unit so the contacts are no longer in the correct place. So that's something else to add to the shopping list.
